Science - Mrs. Dolan

Hi, my name is Stacey Dolan. I am the kindergarten through 5th-grade science teacher at P.S. 52. I have been teaching for the Department of Education for the past 26 years. Out of those 26 years, 20 of them have been in the area of science. I hold an environmental science masters degree in elementary education. My passion is science. I remember being a student in district 22. I attended P.S. 236 in Mill Basin. It was then, when I was blessed with the best science teacher whose room was filled with many furry animals and lots of hands-on experiments. From that moment, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the sciences. This love of science continued into Junior High School, where I won the science fair multiple times. By the time I reached high school, I couldn't wait to study specific areas of science (my favorite marine biology).

At P.S. 52, it is always been my hope and dream that all students share the love of the sciences as I do. I try to give every student that inquiry based experience. Each student is required to make a hypothesis about the world around them, design an experiment to test their hypothesis, and carry it through. Students are challenged on a daily basis with higher level questioning and always told that it is ok to be "wrong" in science. This is what makes the process run smoothly. I look forward daily to working with the young scientists of P.S. 52 as well as watching them make discoveries about real world issues.
